How to Pack Your Hospital Bag

When the time comes for you to go to the hospital to have your baby, you will want to make sure that you are prepared. There are many items that you need to have to help you be comfortable while you are in the hospital.

Comfy Clothes

Make sure that you bring your favorite pajamas with you to the hospital. You could even go out and buy new ones if you want to.

Bra & Nursing Pads

You will need to have a nursing bra or nursing pad while you are in the hospital. Your baby will need to feed a lot before you leave the hospital.


Hospitals tend to be on the cold side, and having cold feet will not be a good thing for you. Make sure you bring several pairs of very warm and comfortable socks with you so your feet will always be warm while you are in the  hospital having your baby.


Once you have your baby, you will want to get up and walk around some. Having some nice and comfortable slippers with you will come in handy. You will also need these slippers once you arrive home.

Homecoming Outfit

You should make sure that you pack a very comfortable outfit with you that you can wear home. Don’t expect to be back in your pre-pregnancy clothes just yet. You will probably feel the most comfortable in one of your pregnancy  outfits right now.


Sanitary pads will be a must right after you have your baby and for a few weeks after you get home.

Your Favorite Toiletries

Pack your basic toiletries, such as shampoo, deodorant, lip balm, and moisturizer. It will be nice to have these items on hand in case you  need them.

Haircare Products

Using different hair accessories, like a brush, comb, barrettes, ponytail holders, and clips will help you hold y our hair back while you are giving birth to your precious baby.


Pack your toothbrush and toothpaste so you can make sure you can brush your teeth while you are at the hospital. This will help you feel better also.

Your Paperwork

There is some paperwork and documentation that you should bring with you to the hospital. This is true even if you are already registered at the hospital. These items include your birthing plan, insurance information, address book, birth announcements and postage stamps.

Nice Extras

You should take anything with you that will help you be as comfortable as you can. Items like an electric heated massager or a tennis ball for leg cramps and low back pain, massage oil, iPod and headphones, or even extra pillows.
